Up until recently, it referred to blastia. We relied on them for everything... heating our homes, cooking food, providing clean water to cities, and generating barriers to protect against monsters.
Mages like me would write the formulas that direct what a blastia does. How much energy it uses, what form its output takes, things like that.
Maybe ending up in a place like this could do some good, in the end. Learning how people live without blastia, what we can build with the right knowledge... It might help us get through the transition.
[ he nods. he's sure some of this she knows by now, but: ] If everything here is like back home, they're using electricity. You can harness stuff like the wind, the sun and water current to generate power.
We have other power sources, but I don't know if you have those at home.
[ he huffs a laugh, because that grin is chaos and infectious ]
Then at least this place wasn't a total loss for you. [ he tilts his head ] There's probably more qualified people around, but if you need any help with rewiring anything, I'm decent enough at it.
Yeah. If anything breaks at home, I'm the one who takes care of it, so I ended up dabbling in some stuff. It's not a hobby or anything for me though, so I haven't looked into how everything works that much. I just know how to fix it if it's a physical issue.
If it's convenient not to learn or to ignore things, people do go for that. [ 100% universal. ] The average person never has to think about that stuff, so they don't.
[ it's not even judgemental, for once, it's factual ]
But wanting to learn everything is a pretty admirable trait.

So it's powerful stuff. [ he didn't understand shit but-- well; ] You said recently. There's new things, now?

... Yeah. It turned out that blastia use came with devastating effects to the world, so...
[there's a pained look on her face]
We had to find another way.

But you said you used it for everything. You're going to have to find a replacement for all of it?
