I was thinking I'd use it for my research, or to rebuild my hometown. But I don't really like the idea of taking shortcuts with either of those.

Anyway, what's the problem with takin' shortcuts? Then you've got extra time to do other stuff you wanna do. [denji has zero nobility]

You worked enough, growin' up, to get this far. Why not make up for some lost time you spent just survivin'?

[she meets his gaze, and her expression softens a little, appreciative. she shakes her head.]

It's not like... work for the sake of work. I like what I do. The very process of it. There's discovery in every step. If you skip all those steps, you miss out on things.

If it makes you happy, then might as well do it, right?

What about the hometown thing, then? Unless you also enjoy the steps of buildin' houses and stuff.

Aspio isn't -- wasn't -- a normal city. It's more like a big research facility. But the main thing we were researching before is gone, so... bringing everything back the way it was would be pointless.

So if we're going to make an entirely new Aspio, I think all of us mages have to decide what that's going to be like... you know, together. I can't just decide that for everybody.
