[hi manwol, you find rita hanging around SUB, looking over at the bowling alley with a contemplative expression. she glances up when she sees her nearby, and says, uncertainly:]

Hey... weird question, but have you ever tried bowling before?

[lifeless]

[look it's apt since they're at a bowling alley]

Not really. Bowling would ruin my nails.

[she flashes rita her bright red manicure, im in tears]

[giving those nails a look...]

I have to do a round with someone for extra credit. Would you mind? I'll make it up to you later.

[nothing perks manwol up more than exchanges,]

Sure. It's a deal then.

[she'll head on over to the lane next to Rita's,]

Do you know how to play?

Not really. I mean, you roll the ball down the lane? It probably can't be that hard.

[she picks up a bowling ball... and is thrown slightly off-balance, it's clear that she didn't expect it to be that heavy.]

[rita... Manwol grins at this, because she's a gremlin.]

That's pretty much it, honestly. See the pins at the end? If you knock them all out, then you get a strike. Whoever gets the most strikes ends up winning.

[she hefts up her ball... it's hard because of her nails, but it's fine.]

But if winning's not the point, then you can just roll the ball.

[she tries to throw the ball!

but her grip is absolute garbage. it slips out of her grasp a little early, thunks heavily against the floor, and deposits itself straight into the gutter.]

This game sucks.

You can't just say that it sucks because you're bad at it.

[Manwol says, then she revs her arm up to throw the ball...

and it shoots off..................

[rita picks up another ball, frowning. are they going to hit any pins? does it even matter if they do?]

[manwol says, after throwing another gutter ball.]

Should we keep playing? This is for your assignment, right?

[she tosses another one. it almost makes it down the lane?? but no, gutter.]

Yeah, I'm pretty tired of this already, but...

[the ball return machine (is that what it's called?? god) doesn't return a ball right away, so she holds out a hand.]

Hey, can you hand me one of the balls from your side?

i can't believe rita is gonna kill her

[i absolutely think it's called the ball return machine,

Manwol raises an eyebrow and then picks up a neon pink ball from her side to hand over to Rita,]

yeah surprise, they're gonna find manwol's body here tomorrow morning -- no

but the second it leaves manwol's hands she just fucking drops it on manwol's foot.

[the ball lands on Manwol's foot, very glad rita did not pick sakyou's broken little feeties to do this to instead]

[SHE'S CURSING!! AND ALSO HOPPING ON ONE FOOT!!! she hops on over to one of the benches so she can sit down, still shrieking because manwol is loud]

[Manwol just like 'WHAT?' as she sits on the bench,]

I almost broke a heel! And my foot! [wonder which one is more important to her,]

[thanks to nice week, the guilt is hitting her extra hard and she absolutely deserves it.]

[the fact that rita achieved this despite nice week is commendable.

there's something very unsatisfying about yelling at someone who's already looking so guilty, wow.]

Manwol looks at her for a moment, then nods.]

[she flaps a hand at her]

But first, help me to the infirmary.

[there's some relief at the agreement. maybe some dread? drelief. it's fine.]

[she'll come over and offer a shoulder.]

[me checking the height chart and realizing that rita is shorter than manwol,

Manwol will graciously accept that shoulder, in that she'll lean on Rita heavily like she lost her leg in the bowling war all the way to the health office,]

So are you really bad at bowling, or were you just pretending earlier?

[SIGH... but yeah she'll deal with it, let's go]

I've definitely never bowled in my life. But yeah, I wasn't exactly trying to do it well. Honestly, just wanted to get the dumb task over with quickly.

I think some people would relish having a task like that. They'd love the excuse to be mean without taking responsibility.
